Callicoon Artwork 2016–Call for Entry

The Callicoon Business Association is inviting local visual artists to participate in the third annual Callicoon Artwalk weekend—Saturday and Sunday, October 8 and 9, 12:00pm–8:00pm. This will be a town-wide event–we want to occupy Callicoon with visual art to showcase and celebrate our vibrant art community.

There are a number of ways to participate in this exciting art event! Read through the choices, refer to the map for more information on art venues, then:

  • download the application and send the completed application by 23 September
  • along with the entry fee (when applicable*) made out to Callicoon Business Association
  • and 4 to 6 examples of your work in the form of hi-res jpegs to:

  1. Art Making in the Park—Saturday, 8 October. Entry fee: $20
    Artists are invited to create art in the Callicoon Creek Park: Plein Air painters, sculptors and woodworkers, potters. Art installations are also welcome. Artists can also display their work for sale.
  2. Art in the Park—Saturday, 8 October.  Entry fee: $20
    Artists are invited to display and sell their work with their own set ups: in tents, on tables, racks, easels.
  3. Art in Shops and Restaurants—Saturday and Sunday, 8 and 9 October. Entry fee: none*. Acceptance fee: $20
    This is a juried selection. Businesses will receive 20% fee for work sold in spaces.
    Artists are invited to submit work (paintings, drawings and photographs, or anything that can hang on a wall) to hang in participating businesses on Main Street. The Callicoon Artwalk Committee will pair up artists with businesses. Space is limited, so please apply early.  $20 fee due upon acceptance.
  4. Art in Alleys—Saturday, 8 October. Entry fee: $20
    Artists are invited to set up their work in alleyways off Main Street. Spaces will be approximately 12 feet long. Art can be hung on racks and easels, or displayed on tables. Please no tents in the alleys.
  5. Art on Buildings—Saturday and Sunday evenings, 8 and 9 October. Entry fee: none*. Acceptance fee: $20
    This is a juried selection. Businesses will receive 20% fee for work sold in storefront windows.
    Light projection artists, videographers and filmmakers are invited to project their work on building facades. Monitors can also be set up in storefront windows. Space is limited, so please apply early. $20 fee due upon acceptance.

Artists are required to submit 4 to 6 examples of their work in the form of hi-res jpegs along with their application.

Entry fees will go to promote the event. This is a rain or shine event.
