Who We Are
Nestled on the shore of the Delaware River in the rural hamlet of Callicoon, New York, the Delaware Youth Center (a.k.a Delaware Community Center) has been a central part of its surrounding community for over 70 years. And in that time, we’ve had the honor of touching thousands of lives.
Whether they learned to swim in our pool, to fly-fish in our creek, had their first dance at our pavilion, or celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in our hall, chances are that if you ask someone in the community what the Delaware Youth Center has done for them, they’ll have a special story to tell.
We’ve been able to provide all these things and more over the years thanks to the support and generosity of our members and donors. Though we do allow everyone to use the playground and grounds, the Youth Center is not run by the town! It is funded and intended for use by our members, so please become a member soon! Treat yourself to the fun and warm memories that membership provides, and ensure that the Delaware Youth Center continues to touch the community for the next 70 years, and beyond.
The Delaware Youth Center offers free wifi to our visitors thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. You’ll see our wifi sponsors posted in the entrance way. Please shop local and make sure to patronize these businesses and thank them when you visit.

A Magical Learning Environment
The Oak Rose Forest School provides an enriched and magical learning environment for our students. Founded in 2021, our forest school is located in the Western Catskills on the land of the Lenni Lenape tribe at The Sanctuary, an indigenous healing center, bee, pollinator and food forest sanctuary. Our environment reflects the beautiful energy and intention of this land, as well as the various backgrounds and cultures of the area, the community caregivers, and wild-life. Our teachers are passionate, progressive and experienced in providing a safe space for child-led learning through play, discovery, and connection with nature.
At the Oak Rose Forest School, we do our best to develop autonomy, curiosity & courage in our students. We believe that joy, awe, wonder and a connection to nature and its elements is greatly important for students to access their own inner wisdom, empathy and intrinsic drive to learn. For us, emotional learning, regulation, and healthy social relationships are of great importance & a crucial foundation for any other learning to take place.
We combine our backgrounds in Waldorf eduction and traditional forest schooling, indigenous wisdom, story telling and myth to weave the curriculum for our program. Our program takes place in all types of weather outdoors.
We believe that childhood should be joyfull and wholesome; that the earliest, most memorable kind of learning includes climbing trees, catching frogs, making mud pies, and mixing potions.

Community Solar Farms – the name fits. These projects are sited on local land, developed and built in local towns, use local labor, provide distributed generation to the local grid, and provide monetary savings to local residents and businesses. We value that, and we aim to keep the spirit of ‘community’ in community solar by providing the best possible customer service to our customers and by giving back to and participating in the local communities that make this program possible.
Community Solar is a win-win-win for:
• Customers via guaranteed monetary savings through the easiest and most accessible way to go solar.
• The local environment via clean renewable electricity generation that also brings resiliency to the power grid.
• Local municipalities via tax revenue through sustainable infrastructure growth.
Meadow Energy and its development partner, Delaware River Solar, have been developing and managing community solar farms since 2015, and we think community solar has a bright future ahead as the best option for customers that cannot or choose not to install or maintain solar equipment on their own roof or property.
